Deer Lake Property Owners’ Association Board Meeting

  • ·         Mary-Ann Remsted called the meeting to order at 8:12 am
  • ·         March 15 minutes approved with revisions
  • ·         Carol Gill presented the financial report.  The balance as of 04-05-2013 is $9634.61.

The annual meeting will be held on April 22, 2013.  The agenda was finalized. Ms. Emily Du Thinh will be making a presentation on the problems and control of Phragmites.  There is a infiltration of phragmitis in the North Shore and at Deer Lake Farms. Nine homes have the plant.  This number will be verified in the spring when visual confirmation will be made by boat. Sharon Hurlbert said there is a need to educate all homeowners. She will be arranging to have 10 books “A Guide to Control & Management Invasive Phragmites” at the annual meeting.  Therese William said that there is an awareness meeting on May 11, 2013 at the Independence Hall.  There will be one contractor used by the Township od Independence for phragmitis control. Ken Gill is to present water quality and the invasive species summary.  Ken stated that the most invasive plant in the lake is starry stonewart.  Fred Daris to present the Township’s response for marina permits.
